PYMATUNING VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL

Andover, Ohio

75,551 SF

Grades 5-8

This project involved the design and construction of a new middle school for grades 5 through 8, accommodating a projected enrollment of 544 students. The school was built on a new site adjacent to the existing high school and primary school, creating a cohesive campus. The building includes academic core areas with classrooms, science labs, teacher preparation rooms, and special education spaces, all tailored to meet the district’s specific requirements.

A state-of-the-art media center is central to the academic area, while large spaces are dedicated to art, music, and life skills programs. The gymnasium features a full-size regulation basketball court and locker room facilities. A cafetorium with a stage and a full-service kitchen serves both student dining and community events. The site also includes separate bus pick-up and drop-off zones, ample parking for visitors and staff, and facilities for extracurricular activities, including baseball/softball fields and an outdoor basketball court. The project was completed in 2005.

This project was recognized for Educational Design Excellence in the 2006 issue of American School & University.
