The New Miles School was constructed to replace the former Miles Elementary School, utilizing the same site to create a modern educational facility. The design features a three-story layout strategically chosen to optimize site elements, including parking lots and playground areas, enhancing overall accessibility and functionality.
Community engagement was a crucial aspect of the design process, allowing local stakeholders to provide valuable input that shaped the final plan. As a result, the design incorporates unique features such as a stage that connects the student dining area with the gymnasium, facilitating various events and activities. Additionally, the academic wing can be secured during community events, ensuring safety and privacy for students and staff. The design also emphasizes natural lighting in classrooms, creating a bright and inviting learning environment.
This project has proudly achieved Silver LEED Certification, reflecting a commitment to sustainable building practices and the creation of a healthy, energy-efficient learning space for students.
