Elyria High School
280,000 SF Addition
About this Project
The Elyria High School project preserved the historic 1894 Washington Building while replacing outdated structures with a modern campus. To accommodate the new academic core, an adjacent city block was acquired. The project was completed in two phases: relocating students to the new facility, then demolishing older additions and finalizing the campus.
Community engagement played a key role in the transformation, with input from organizations like Invacare, Elyria Memorial Hospital, Rigid Tools, and the Elyria Rotary Club. Their collaboration helped establish the school as a community hub and a lasting source of pride for Elyria.
There are many architectural firms in the business of school design but I feel confident in saying AVG is the cream of the crop. Syed and his team have become part of the fabric of this district.
